Brush fire consumes bulldozer in Halifax County

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department says it responded to a brush fire that spread to a bulldozer in Halifax County on May 6.

The department says the call came in around 2:06 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a brush fire and a bulldozer in flames on Thorntons Road. At the scene, crews found the bulldozer fully engulfed and additional crews, including the North Halifax Fire Department, responded to the scene.

The brush fire was contained to the dozer, but firefighters say due to fuel and oil burning, they spent an extensive amount of time controlling the blaze. According to the Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department, crews stayed on the scene for over an hour.

There were no reported injuries.
